November 10 – 12, 2017 

This trip is timed to coincide with the Philadelphia Craft Show, the 30th anniversary celebration of the Center for Wood Art, and Craft Now. In addition to attending these wonderful events, the trip will visit a number of private venues. (Limit to 20 guests on a first come basis.)

Cost: $290 Members | $390 Non-Members

Price Includes: One group dinner, one day admission to craft show and museum, receptions at Moore College, and CAW, all visits to galleries and collections and a $100 nonrefundable contribution to JRA
Not included: Transportation to Philadelphia and any local parking (if driving), Hotel for two nights (rooms reserved at convenient Marriott Hotel $179 per night for 1-2 guests plus 15.5% tax), Meals except indicated, ground transportation, alcoholic drinks (cash bar at group dinner).

Friday, November 10, 2017

11:00 AM Arrive in Philadelphia and drop luggage at Marriott Hotel.

Optional lunch at nearby Reading Market (on own).

12:30 PM Visit the Philadelphia Craft Show.

3:30 PM Arrive at the Moore Center for Art for the Craft Now Symposium.

4:00 PM Hear a panel with Robyn Horn and keynote speaker Abraham Thomas.

6:30 PM Enjoy an evening reception following the panel.

Walk to dinner at James (3-4 blocks). Enjoy included 3-course dinner. 


Saturday, November 11, 2017

9:00 AM Visit the studio of ceramic artist Lauren Mabry, emerging NCECA artist.

11:00 AM Visit to furniture artist Michael Hurwitz’s studio.

Lunch on own or visit Kimmel Center to view artist demonstrations.

2:00 PM Tour of Wexler Gallery to view the exhibition of Paradox, Industrial Nature a group furniture show.

3:00 PM Visit to Clay Studio to view “Watershed Legends” exhibition of Paula Winokur, Wayne Higby, and Jack Troy.—tour exhibit with Clay Studio curatorial staff.

4:00 PM Visit Moderne (mid-century modern furniture) and other local shops.

5:00 PM Center for Wood Art: Executive Director leads a tour of the collection and the special exhibit on Criss Cross: Robyn Horn/Brian Dickerson. 

6:00 PM Attend Center for Wood reception and ceremony.

7:15 PM Enjoy a group dinner at 3-4 locations per sign-up sheets (paid on own).


Sunday November 12

9 AM Tour the home of Clara and Ben Hollander house with a collection of ceramics and studio furniture.

10:15 AM: Tour of the new Snyderman home and collection

12 PM Tour the National Museum of American Jewish History (a Smithsonian affiliate with a very interesting exhibition in center city).

2 PM Trip Ends
