Tim Tate: Distinguished Artist Series Weekend
Saturday, October 06, 2018, 9:30 AM to Sunday, October 07, 2018, 3:30 AM EDT

Tim Tate

Distinguished Artist Series

Tim Tate likes to avoid strict definitions, preferring to bring together multiple genres and eras to create a unique body of work.  Using glass and video as his primary media, Tim examines issues of politics, science, rituals, and dreams, seeking to find "the relics of the future while honoring the past."

Tim's current work involves a series of mirrors, causing viewers to lose themselves in infinitely receding images as they stare into it.  Or, the work itself might stare back at viewers from an embedded video eye which seems to follow their movements.

With his interesting combinations of techniques and thoughtful examination of important issues, it's no wonder Tim was named by the Museum of American Glass as one of the "Rising Stars of the 21st Century."

About the Distinguished Artist Series

Four times a year, the James Renwick Alliance brings notable American craft artists from around the country for the Distinguished Artist Series. Each DAS weekend includes a Saturday workshop and free Sunday public lecture at which the artist will discuss his/her technique, background, artistic influences, and career.
